MAKINEN Services

We deliver turnkey marine interior projects for cruise ships, expedition vessels, and passenger ferries, covering newbuilds, refurbishments, and marine-grade furniture production.

Projects are handled from planning through delivery, with interior scope typically including fixed and loose furniture, textiles, wall, floor, and ceiling surfaces, bathrooms and wet units, as well as related HVAC, piping, and electrical works. With experience from hundreds of projects, we help client teams make informed decisions on scope, budget allocation, and design specifics, so that the intended design vision can be executed in practice.

Cabin and public spaces refurbishment

We have refurbished more than 60,000 cabins onboard cruise ships and passenger vessels. Refurbishment work has included everything from light-scope upgrades to full refurbishments, covering passenger cabins, public spaces, and crew areas. Scope can include interior surfaces and furniture, textiles, bathrooms and wet units, as well as related electrical, piping, and HVAC works.

We have extensive experience in large-scale cabin refurbishment projects, using a defined execution approach for high-volume work that supports clear progress tracking, consistent quality, and reliable project control.

Expedition vessel newbuilds

Expedition vessels operate in extreme and remote conditions and differ significantly from conventional cruise ships. This affects how interiors are designed, built, and delivered.

Since 2018, MAKINEN has acted as the single interior contractor for the Infinity-class expedition vessel series. Repeated deliveries across the same vessel class have established clear execution methods and an experienced supplier base, allowing quality and cost to be managed consistently regardless of project location.

MAKINEN has focused specifically on expedition vessel interiors as a niche, delivering a large volume of interior spaces as a single contractor.
